Maulden Vale Ltd is the development arm of MJ Hillson Group Ltd and is known for acquiring sought after sites and developing them with properties of unsurpassed quality.
Michael Hillson – who still runs the company – started out in business in 1967, having learned his trade as a carpenter and joiner. Joined by his father Roger, who had been a senior manager in the construction industry, in the mid-1970s they set up Hillson Builders Ltd delivering projects for local authorities, schools and other public bodies. In the 1980s, they branched out into house building.
Initially, that was with the creation of Maulden Homes Ltd, building a number of developments including a prestigious 26-unit site in St Albans, before evolving into Maulden Vale Ltd in March 1989. Now well-established as a property developer, over the past quarter of a century Maulden Vale Ltd has been a leader in shaping housebuilding in the Bedfordshire area and beyond with eye-catching developments, appealing designs and innovative use of material and construction techniques. From an initial three property development in Pulloxhill, near our Bedfordshire base, we progressed to a 70-home estate, which is still regarded as a prime site today.
We have continued to build regularly since, from single plot developments, and renovation projects to development sites which on average today are from 12-17 properties. Maulden Vale Ltd is based at the Maulden Vale Business Park in Maulden, Bedfordshire, which is the main offices of MJ Hillson Group Ltd, a company which employs 80 staff and works with an extensive and long-standing network of skilled sub-contractors and suppliers.
