At Maulden Vale, we take pride in our ethical approach to our building projects and we always try to to collaborate with local councils and communities when we’re planning our developments.
So we were thrilled to welcome Wren Class from Maulden Lower School to our Badger Hill site. The four- and five-year-olds had been learning about construction and were really excited to wear hi-vis jackets and hard hats, just like real builders.
We arranged a special tour of the site for the children, including a chance to see the builders hard at work, a look inside the showhome and a meeting with Mark Hillson and the team. In school, the class had been designing their own buildings, and asked us lots of questions about housebuilding. We also arranged for the reception children to plant the first tree on site – the landscaping and grounds are a key part of creating a sense of community at Badger Hill.
When the children returned to school, they created some fantastic drawings of themselves dressed as builders and of the houses they had designed. Maybe some of them will be part of the Maulden Vale team when they grow up…
